Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra, is a captivating hill station renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. Often hailed as one of the wettest places on Earth, cherrapunji’s lush landscapes, a multitude of living root bridges and abundant rainfall create a stunning backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Visitors can marvel at the incredible living root bridges, formed by the Khasi tribes over centuries, or explore the mesmerizing Nohkalikai Falls, one of India’s tallest waterfalls. 

Double Decker Living Root Bridge

Double decker living root bridge: Located near the village of Nongriat in the East Khasi Hills, this extraordinary bridge is a testament to the ingenuity of the local Khasi people. It is named for its distinctive two-tiered structure, which is entirely constructed from the roots of the ancient rubber fig trees (Ficus elastica). Over the course of several decades, the roots of these trees are trained and intertwined to form a sturdy bridge that spans across the Umshiang River. 


Dawki, a picturesque town in India’s northeastern state of Meghalaya, is renowned for its crystal-clear river, the Umngot. Its mesmerizing emerald waters offer breathtaking boat rides and reveal the riverbed’s stunning limestone formations. Dawki is a serene gem, captivating travelers with its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance.
